Why I Think Sakura is Not Sarada's Mom

A Naruto prediction made on 26th May, 2017.

First, let's point out all the facts from Naruto Gaiden

Sarada walks home, feeling jealous that her classmates were being trained by their fathers for the upcoming Genin Exams. Upon returning home and seeing a picture of her parents together, Sarada questions her mother about him. Since she wears glasses and her mother doesn't, Sarada wonders if her father wears glasses. When Sarada voices this question, Sakura says "No. I guess". Sarada seems unsatisfied with an "I guess" answer to a simple question. Sarada openly questions the validity of her parents' marriage causing Sakura to violently lash out, which ended up with the entire house being destroyed.

Sarada returns to her house's ruins to collect some valuables. However, as she picks up the picture from before, Sarada makes a shocking discovery: the family picture is fake. Pulling out the larger picture of her father, she sees him with the rest of his team Taka and, to her horror, Karin — a girl with glasses similar to her, causing Sarada to further question her own parentage.

After further research, Sarada finds that Konaha has no record of her birth, deepening the doubt.

When Sarada meets her father, she reveals that she wanted to ask him about the identity of her biological mother, along with a slew of other questions regarding Karin in the photograph. Sasuke refuses to answer any of her questions, and Sarada storms out of the temple in anger.

Later in the book, Sarada requests that Suigetsu do a DNA test with the use of an umbilical cord that Suigetsu thinks belongs to Karin to confirm if Sakura or Karin is her birth mother. After comparing DNA from both Sarada and the umbilical cord, the test seemingly reveals that Karin is Sarada's real mother.

Karin yells at Suigetsu for his actions; the umbilical cord he used for the DNA test was between Sarada and Sakura. Karin reveals that Sakura traveled with Sasuke on his journey while she was pregnant and that it was Karin who delivered Sarada in the hideout.

My Theory

I think that Karin is Sarada's mom. And due to some reason, she is being raised by Sakura. I am not sure about the reason. It could have been that Sasuke had an affair or that Karin decided to be a surrogate because Sakura couldn't have kids for some reason (Remember when she got stabbed by Sasori?).

Loopholes and Validation

1. The obvious reason - The physical similarities between Karin and Sarada. And both of them wear glasses. 

2. Sakura had the biggest crush on Sasuke. She is used to seeing him from afar. She very well knew that Sasuke did not wear glasses. Then, why did she hesitate to tell Sarada that?

I think the reason she hesitated to answer was that she didn't want Sarada to find out the truth. It will create unnecessary doubt in Sarada's mind if she finds out that both her parents do not wear glasses.

3. What good reason could Karin have for saving Sakura's umbilical cord?  

I think the umbilical cord was Karin's. The reason for it must have been to remind herself of her own lost motherhood. I also think she lied saying it was Sakura's because she too did not want Sarada to find the truth. Also, among all the part of flashbacks, Sakura is never seen with a bump.

I Could Be Wrong

It is completely possible that Sakura was so aesthetically in love with Sasuke that she really didn't know whether her husband wore glasses. 

And Karin is not the most sensible of characters. She is obsessiveness is of cosmic proportion. She could have been creepy enough to keep the umbilical cord for some reason. 

So, we will see.
